2006 Christmas Classic
Christmas of 2006 marked the return of the Christmas Classic to Columbus, Ohio. The return was marked not only by some great racing action but also by the first North American UCI Continental rankings race. The UCI racing action was great for those who hung around to watch it. In Junior Women racing action, Amanda Geving went on to edge out Madison Pitts for the win. In Junior Men action, 17x standout Warren McDow brought his A-game and laid waste to all of his competition, edging out some top names. In Elite Women action it was Canada's Samantha Cools leading the way to the stripe, followed by a host of other top level national riders. And finally, in Elite Men it was J-Rich Jason Richardson taking it to the stripe followed by a hard charging Donny Robinson and Bob Dewilde. On a sad note, during Sunday's Elite Men's racing action, Brandon Meadows went over the bars going into turn one. During the crash Meadows re-injured his femur which had already been operated on to install a titanium rod due to a prior injury. We would like to wish Brandon a speedy recovery.
